Topical Communities

The IYPF currently has topical communities on the below topics:
  • HIV & AIDS - The IYPF's HIV and AIDS Network (IYPHAN) is an HIV and AIDS focussed global network for young professionals and or their organisations. In response to the devastating human tragedy crisis, HIV and AIDS, the network is geared to offering an effective and efficient forum for coordinaation of young proffessionals` initiatives at a global level. More information and get involved here.
  • Downshifting - Young Professionals who have or who are thinking about 'doing less to do more'. Downshifting is about giving more time to those things that are important to you and that reinforce your humanity, such as time with friends and family, doing things you believe in, participating in social change and sustainability activites. Join the network here.
  • Young Professionals & the MDGs - Young Professionals have a necessary and vital role to play in the achievement of the MDGs as current and future business, government and community leaders, as employers and trepreneurs, as agents for positive change in their communities and organisations, possessing the skills and talents to help create a better world for current and future generations. Join our YP & MDG community and get informed, inspired and equipped to play your part in achieving a better world for all. More information and get involved here.
  • Education - Education for All is a goal enshrined in many declarations. It also underpins Millennium Development Goal 2. Education is widely recognised as playing a key role in the empowerment of people and underpins social development. 2005-2014 is the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development. Join our Education Community to share information, opinions and ideas on how to better ensure education for a better world for all. More information and get involved here.
  • Globalisation - Globalisation is a complex system of forces effecting economies, societies, cultures and the environment around the world in diverse ways. Get involved with other young professionals in seeking to make globalisation work for all and deliver the promise of poverty eradication and sustainable development. More information and get involved here
  • Freshwater - 2003 was the International Year of Freshwater. With the Freshwater Campaign, we are creating an opportunity for young professionals to share what they know, to learn, and to propose new solutions to the world's Freshwater problems. More information and get involved here
  • Information & Communication Technologies - As part of the global World Summit on the Information Society process, the IYPF wants to get young professionals to share knowledge, research and information about ICT's and digital opportunities for development and to use this knowledge to create and implement new solutions to local, regional and international problems.  More information and get involved here
  • Poverty Eradication - Poverty persists in an age of unprecedented wealth. We invite all young professionals to join us to share knowledge, research, information and opinions on the problem of poverty and to co-create and implement new projects and solutions to help eradicate poverty. • Sustainable Livelihoods - The IYPF is a partner with the Youth Employment Summit. To join the Australian part of this campaign, see here. And see a project undertaken as part of the Youth Employment Summit in Australia, Blueprint.
If you are interested in sharing information, knowledge, and research on issues and solutions in these areas and being part of the creation of new projects and ventures to make a difference in theseareas follow the links provided to get involved.

Also, some non- IYPF topical networks you might like to join of relevance to young professionals:

  • Peak Oil - The issue of "Peak Oil" is gaining increased coverage in mainstream media, and has a well-established following outside the mainstream. With the spectrum of views ranging from business-as-usual to global die-off, the debate is daunting to say the least. But perhaps it is most daunting for young people just starting out in the world. What is Peak Oil going to do to the young professional, who has little money but big dreams? Are they going to find themselves unable to live out the life they had come to expect? This group is an online meeting-place for all young professionals who would like to discuss issues related to Peak Oil and sustainability, and are interested in looking to the future. People outside Australia are most welcome too. A diversity of ideas and opinions is encouraged, in the interests of helping each other find our way through the information and mis-information out there. Join the ASPO-Australia Young Professionals Forum: www.groups.yahoo.com/groups/aspo_oz_youngprof. Regional Communities

Each young professional involved in the IYPF is encouraged to join the relevant IYPF regional community.

In these online communities, IYPF members (you have to be a member or associate member to be able to join the list) discuss their work; seek and share advice, assistance and relevant information; share opportunities (events, scholarships); identify regional opportunities, challenges, solutions, projects; and network across countries and cities.

Regional communities will be great resources for IYPF members.

Through these communities you can connect with other young professionals in the same region as you, helping each other to be more effective by exchanging stories and information.

Just click on the link to the right to join the regional communities you are interested in.
